The People's Education Press (PEP) is a publishing house under the leadership of the Ministry of Education (MOE) of the People's Republic of China. Its work centres on the research, writing, compilation, publication, and distribution of school textbooks and other educational publications. PEP was established on 1 December 1950. After more than 70 years of development, PEP has become the publication standard for primary and secondary school textbooks in China. Being an important part of primary and secondary school education reform, PEP maintains its position as the leader of educational publishing in China.
Position:
English Writer and Copy Editor
The People’s Education Press (PEP) is seeking a passionate, experienced, and articulate educator to join its ranks in the English Editorial Department. The post requires an experienced writer with solid copy-editing skills. You will play a key role in the writing and editing of a diverse range of primary and secondary school study material. You will also consult with other editors, and give feedback and guidance when necessary. As a vital member of the team, you will need to drive forward projects, and also provide occasional teacher training.
Skills and qualifications:
Native English speaker
Passionate about and dedicated to primary and secondary school education
Hold a bachelor’s degree or above, preferably majoring or specializing in English language teaching (TESOL/TEFL/CELTA), education, literature, or other education-related fields
Experienced in writing and editing English language learning materials
Able to write informative and complicated articles of up to university standard
Detail-oriented and conscientious, with very good proofreading skills and knowledge of English grammar
Effective interpersonal and inter-cultural skills, able to conduct training/presentations
Independent worker with strong organizational skills, able to multi-task and meet multiple deadlines
Proficient in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Teaching experience and previous editorial work experience is greatly preferred
A basic command of Mandarin Chinese is preferred
Location:
People’s Education Press Headquarters, Beijing, China (Weigongcun subway station, line 4)
Compensation:
18-25K PM. Work visa and social security. Competitive base salary and benefits package, including monthly housing stipend, mobile phone stipend, annual wage supplement, and annual wage review.
