Engineering Manager

One of the world's largest manufacturer of embroidered emblems and insignia is looking for an Engineering Manager
Job Responsibilities
1. Assesses materials and material usage, equipment and processes for item/product production. Establishes and documents routings, process standards, standard operating procedures and quality tolerances.
2. Manages activities related to creation of standard operating procedures, establishment of production rates, machine settings, production and monitoring of product samples to ensure compliance to performance criteria, process auditing, product testing/quality inspection and auditing.
3. Monitor and audit process conditions and manufacturing performance at other locations including subcontractor facilities to ensure consistency of process, adherence to standards and conformance to meet the cost and quality expectations.
4. Determines Company’s manufacturing capabilities on a global basis. Develop plans and recommendations regarding equipment and other resource requirements needed to meet organizational objectives related to the production of company products.
5. Evaluate and recommend equipment and materials to use in the manufacturing process of company products. Justifies capital/credit requests, including equipment expenditures and facility improvements. Plans and executes capital improvements projects, machinery installation and facility configuration or improvements.
6. Run trials to establish document routings, process standards, standard operating procedures and quality tolerances for new products or processes. Monitors process conditions and manufacturing performance and executes the transition of new products, processes and procedures through the commercialization phase to the manufacturing floor and documentation of methods to be used by Product Engineering.
7. Establishes quality procedures and tolerances for all manufacturing operations. Interfaces with manufacturing management to resolve quality issues or problems. Evaluates customer complaints and returns, implementing improvements in process standards or standard operating procedures as needed.
8. Directs production sampling activities of the company on a worldwide basis. Monitors performance of product samples in sample phase to ensure compliance to set standards of performance.
9. Assesses safety and environmental issues related to processes, procedures, equipment and materials.
10. Establishes training guidelines and assists manufacturing in training personnel in new and existing manufacturing procedures and processes.
11. Provide engineering, technical, quality guidance.
12. Participating in interviewing and selection process and performance appraisal processes and designing/delivering employee technical training.
13. Provide customer support.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline (B.A. or B.S.)
2. Minimum 10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
3. Experience in Project Management and Quality System Management is required.
4. Technical experience in textiles, printing, coating and film experience preferred.
5. Engineering experience in a small discreet batch manufacturing environment making custom designed product with short lead time requirements is preferred.
6. Competency in computerized planning, routing, bill of materials systems and office suites.
Key competency for this position:
1. Excellent English language skills, report to English Speaking supervisor
2. Hands on experience on IE and BOM build up.
3. Lean manufacturing experience will be preferred.
4. Textile and garment industry background will be highly preferred.
5. Good communication and leadership.
