Kabam’s offices in Beijing, China is looking for an Art Director to join the Beijing office of our social gaming startup. We are well-funded (backed by a top VC and a prominent UK gaming company), profitable and offer a competitive salary, equity participation and benefits.

Kabam got its start building TV and sports fan community sites, and we recently turned our attention to creating innovative, engaging social games. Our first title, Kingdoms of Camelot, has garnered top ratings and a strong (and growing) following on Facebook.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

• Establish, communicate and manage department objectives
• Define, manage and refine over time the production process for all Art/Design teams
• Review and actively manage pipeline plans for all projects to ensure accuracy of scope, schedule and budget
• Work with the Senior Artists and Concept Artists to define visual and art standards/systems and to ensure high-quality art production
• Evaluate multiple concepts or approaches to a given project and determine which should be greenlit for production
• Accurately distinguish which illustration and design considerations are critical for developing successful game portals and social games
• Lead formal and informal review sessions and provide effective team feedback
• Mentor the Art/Design team whether they be in-house employees or contract hires
• Foster a design culture around game portals and web-based games
• Research, explore and communicate art and design best practices
  WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

• 7 – 10 years of professional and advanced leadership experience in entertainment and/or web games, social game experience a plus
• Bachelor’s degree in the Arts, Graphic Arts or a related field is required
• Business understanding of English and Chinese, both the written and spoken language
• Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects, priorities and deadlines
• Proven ability to think conceptually about projects and brands and to develop and evolve over time creative systems/processes
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
• Excellent ability to communicate with Artists and Designers via voice or writing
• Strong attention to detail and ability to communicate and collaborate
