Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI) is the master planning, creative development, design, engineering, production, project management, and research and development arm of Disney’s Parks and Resorts business segment. Representing more than 150 disciplines, its talented corps of Imagineers are responsible for the creation of Disney resorts, theme parks and attractions, hotels, water parks, real estate developments, regional entertainment venues, cruise ships and new media technology projects.
Walt Disney Imagineering is searching for an executive to serve as the Vice President, Project Controls. The position will report to the Vice President/CFO of Walt Disney Imagineering. This Vice President will initially be located in Glendale, CA and will later relocate to Shanghai, China. The Vice President, Project Controls will be responsible for creating and leading an integrated management control project office for the WDI Shanghai Disneyland project. The project is expected to achieve global class performance regarding risk analysis, forecasting and business process quality. The Vice
President will oversee all aspects of project controls including Finance, estimating, scheduling and planning.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead a project team of up to 30 professionals responsible for Estimating, Finance and Planning
- Provide in depth technical support to Senior leaders with regard to Projects Planning, Monitoring and Controlling processes. Provide risk assessment and value engineering
- Monitor and develop execution progress at the Macro level and pre-empt claims from the contractor
- Apply a disciplined approach to cost containment that supports the creative intent and provides meaningful business performance feedback to the project and the organization
- Integrate practices and execution in project estimating, project planning/scheduling and project finance
- Present key business performance metrics targets and results in real time
- Execute an integrated 3D/4D/5D strategy on projects
- Operate effectively in a highly complex, multi-national business environment
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: (These are the minimum qualifications you need to be considered for the job.)
- BS degree in Construction Management or equivalent/MBA preferred
- Minimum of 10 years leadership experience – preferably in a Construction environment
- Diversified knowledge and deep expertise in engineering, estimating, scheduling and project controls management
- Proven ability to develop, lead and motivate a team of Estimators, Finance and Planning and Scheduling professionals
- Experience preparing and reviewing Master Schedules for Large projects including master development projects
- Proven ability to successfully negotiate, cost and schedule changes with vendors and contractors
- Strong ability to successfully influence multiple project teams and functional estimating, finance and planning/scheduling groups
- Proven ability to develop and maintain strong business relationships with internal and external clients
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize
- Proven ability to communicate with all levels within the organization as well as with contractors and vendors
- Experience leading dispersed teams in an international capacity
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge of Mandarin language
