Job Description: Chief Editor for EuroBiz

The European Chamber is a lobbying organisation and as part of the work of the Chamber offers a bimonthly magazine to its members and the general public. The Chief Editor in Beijing will report directly to the Marketing and Communications Manager.

Responsibilities:
• Handle the overall editing responsibilities
• Quality control
• Provide clear and specific guidance on internal and external submissions to improve/ensure the editorial quality for publishing purpose
• Check on the content (authenticity and relevancy to the topic), language (grammar and content flow), writing style and photos and aesthetics (photos, images, sound, audio and video) of the articles or documents appearing on the specified medium
• Is required to change, modify, paraphrase or condense the content in order to enhance its quality and approve or reject the piece based on preset grounds.
• Write editorial pieces (such as the president’s foreword, cover story, other feature articles etc)
• Relationship building and communication with the relevant article authors (members, partners etc)
• Is required to motivate staff, members, partners etc to provide content
• Come up with an editorial calendar for the one year at the beginning of each year on relevant topics
• It is the editor in chief's responsibility to see that the issue is completely full of content and no area is left empty. They are also required to handle reader's complaints and explain and account for them.
• It is the editor in chief's responsibility to cross check all citations and examine all the references provided in the content.
• To complete other duties as required

Skills
- Writing and editorial skills to organize content/information in a clear, reader-friendly, structural manner essential
- Good knowledge and interest in business and government affairs isues in China
- Basic knowledge of publication-related design software, such as InDesign, PhotoShop or Illustrator
- Creative skills and human resource skills (motivate staff, members, partners etc to provide content)
- Possess strong communication skills
- Organized and professional, and must be able to work well in a member of a team
Requirements
- Native English speaker
- 2 years previous experience working for a newspapers, Magazine or other publications
- A bachelor's degree in communications or journalism
