The Planning & Design division has international reach with staff in the UK, Middle East, India, China, Canada and Latin America. They are a leading provider of global planning and design services with a vision to grow and become the premier provider of these services.

In China their Planning & Design team is based in Shanghai where they are a market leader in providing urban design, master planning and planning services to developers and public authorities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• To help lead and grow the master planning, urban design and architectural capability in China.
• Develop the Joint Venture (JV) team and business through strong technical ability and successful delivery on projects in China and elsewhere in Asia as appropriate.
• assist in maintaining and developing a “planning and design team of choice” for existing and new private and public sector clients throughout China.
• work with the Planning Director and Chief Business Representative in Shanghai in developing business in China.
• demonstrate design excellence in the preparation of concept designs for master planning and detailed urban design work.
• project management of additional “off shore” global resources to meet project requirements.
• line management responsibilities for additional design support staff.

Requirements:

• Experience of project managing master planning, urban design and multi-disciplinary jobs.
• An excellent reputation and strong track record in delivering high quality master planning and urban design schemes, large and small, regeneration and green-field, sustainable new settlements and urban extensions, strategic frameworks etc.
• Demonstrable experience of Bidding and winning new master planning and urban design work.
• Provide support on other overseas projects when required.
• mentor junior urban designers.
• Quality design skills are vital, and the candidate must be able to face the challenge of the blank canvas, with exceptional hand drawing skills that can be detailed and developed by the local team
• Chartered Planner, Architect or Landscape Architect
• Relevant Urban Design qualification.
• Minimum 10 years experience
• Experience of large scale master planning – 30km sq +

Experience of working in China/ Asia would be an advantage.
