Our client is a leading international Spanish contracting firm with operations across the Globe comprising South America, Canada, the US, the Middle East, Asia and China as well as Europe. They have now secured a major hydropower plant project in Sichuan in China within their Group Energy Division. Sichuan is one of the largest industrial provinces in South Western China. This project comprises four concrete fact rock fill dams with approximately 40 kms of diversion tunnels and underground powerhouses. Our client has been consigned to undertake the project management of the execution of works and they currently have a team of 40 on site who are responsible for providing the technical support and resources to ensure continuous unhindered workflow.

The focus of this role is to drive the overall construction management of the project on a local level. This role is responsible for the planning, execution, and the management the construction management of the project locally according to a strict deadline and within budget. Further this role is responsible for implementing the project’s objectives and overseeing the project management control throughout its project life cycle.

Reporting to the Deputy Project Manager, your responsibilities include:

• Management of the design for dam design, underground works and industrial design.
• Managing all aspects of the design process from initial layout concept to full detailed design documentation;
• Responsible for preparing designs for development of hydropower projects;
• Manage the production of design Documentation (Design Reports, Drawings, Contract Specifications, Bill of Quantities etc);
• Ensure compliance with the relevant design codes and standards as outlined in the contract;
• Review of studies, designs and records relevant to the project execution, contract administration, as required;
• Review of the development program to ensure design works comply with the program and relevant standards to meet the clients and firm’s criterions.

The attributes we seek for this role include:

• Ideally seeks a Civil or Hydropower Engineer with a minimum of Bachelor degree and at least 10 years of Design Management experience
• Strong prior experience of design of major infrastructure projects;
• Strong relationships management skills and business acumen;
• Language skills in Chinese and English
• Must have experience working in China or Hong Kong
