Technical Sales Engineer
at Madico, Inc. in China
Job Summary: Supports existing business and aids in developing new business by acting as the primary technical resource for the field sales force.
Ideal candidate must be self-motivated with a proven knowledge of the Photovoltaic industry and technology. Comfortable in the dynamic atmosphere of a technical organization with a rapidly expanding customer base. Must possess strong presentation skills and be able to communicate professionally in written responses to emails, phone calls, and when submitting reports. Organized and analytical, able to eliminate sales obstacles through creative and adaptive approaches. Must be prepared for extensive travel.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Responsible for actively driving and managing the technology evaluation stage of the sales process, working in conjunction with the sales team as the key technical advisor and product advocate.
• Must be able to articulate technology and product positioning to both business and technical users.
• Must be able to identify all technical issues of assigned accounts to assure complete customer satisfaction through all stages of the business relationship beginning with the sales cycle.
• Must be able to establish and maintain strong relationships throughout the business relationship.
• Responsible for onsite product quality and technical resolutions including product start-up assistance.
• Responsible for representing the product and company to customers and in the field and at events such as conferences, seminars, trade shows, etc.
• Able to respond to customer’s technical questions and quality concerns via phone, emails, and on site visits.
• Managing and interpreting customer requirements - speaking with clients to understand, anticipate and meet their needs, and to be able to translate those requirements to the Sales and Management Teams.
• Able to travel throughout the assigned sales territory.
• Root cause analysis and implementation of corrective action for process related concerns.
Desired Minimum Qualifications:
• 4-year technical degree (BA/BS) in the field of engineering (chemical/electrical preferred), or other technical degree related to the field of Photovoltaic’s, such as physics. Work experience will also be considered.
• Ability to speak Chinese and English fluently.
• >5 year Background and Experience in the PV field, specifically in the areas of module manufacturing, module materials, and module testing.
• Ability to travel within China and to the United States. Additional ability to travel to Taiwan, Korea, India, and all of SE Asia a major plus.
• Prior sales experience desired as is knowledge of polymer films as they apply to laminations, coatings and performance.
Special Requirements:
• Self motivated and be able to prioritize. Ability to work independently.
• Must be flexible as hours will vary and will require regular communications with the Eastern Time Zone of the United States.
• Be able to work the necessary hours to complete the responsibilities.
• Chinese or International Drivers License highly desirable.
Tools and Equipment:
• Must be able to use a computer. Computer programs Microsoft Word, Outlook & Excel, and basic knowledge of Internet, calculator, and fax machine.
