THE ORGANIZATION
Walking Tree Travel is a student travel organization that specializes in bringing high school students to different countries for language and service focused adventures. Our mission is to inspire our youth to become global citizens by taking an active interest in the world around them. Our programs are designed for a motivated, select group of youth that is not looking for the typical tourist trip, but rather for an opportunity to form a lasting bond with another culture. THE JOB
Walking Tree maintains a Country Director in each of our destination countries to organize, prepare and manage our programs. Specifically, our Country Director is in charge of helping to establish and conceptualize the program, find service providers and make necessary reservations for hotels and transportation, make contact with potential host communities, identify and make preparations for service projects, identify, interview and prepare homestay families (where applicable) and be on call during all programs for potential issues.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
Our Country Directors live permanently in the host country and have a profound understanding of the local culture and language as well as American culture and can speak English and Mandarin. They are someone who has worked with young adults, traveled extensively and supports the ideals of community service and cultural exploration. They are organized, self-motivated, have access to reliable transportation, email and phone, have a flexible schedule, and are looking for something seasonal and part time. Finally, our Country Directors are fun-loving people who like to work within a team and be part of something special.
THE COMPENSATION
Our Country Directors are paid on a per program basis. The pay depends on the length and complication of the program, destination and experience, but ranges from $700-$1000 per program. This positions tend to be VERY part time and seasonal, depending on the number of programs we end up running each year. We are hoping for three programs between now and July of 2011.
