As the Production Manager you will be responsible for ensuring the academic integrity of the schools so that our students receive the best possible English language education.

At EF English First Tianjin, we are seeking a new Production Manager. This role will report to the General Manager of EF Tianjin. Your mission is to drive the business and help build English First as the number one educational brand in Tianjin.

You will work with the schools to reach monthly and annual retention targets, supervise production throughout the schools, and ensure consistent and high-level academic content and effective operation of all systems and processes. You will have the opportunity to help shape the direction of a fast-growing, international business.

Vital to this role are strong people management skills and a flexible working style. You’ll have the ability to manage and develop a large international teaching team with the support of two excellent senior teachers.

You’ll be qualified with a degree and be a native English speaker and have a wide range of teaching and training experience with a good understanding of the TEFL environment. Experience in a previous DoS role is desirable as is experience living and working in a foreign country.

Ideally you’ll possess outstanding organizational skills, be positive and enthusiastic in the workplace and show an eagerness to solve problems. A proven track record of building strong relationships with teachers, sales and service staff, customers and other senior managers is essential.

You’ll be someone who is able to confidently craft a vision for the future of our schools. This will require all of your creativity and initiative as you work mostly independently to plan and implement your new directives that will ensure further success for our school.

Our first Tianjin EF school opened in 2001 and since then we’ve been growing rapidly. We now have 5 schools and a successful Corporate Language Training Unit (CLT). Our English language programs cater to a diverse range of Chinese learners and we currently have over 4000 students studying with us. We offer curriculum for kindergarten, primary school and high school students, and also deliver comprehensive adult courses for both general and business English.

Tianjin – The city

Tianjin is located at northeast of North China, facing Bohai River on east and bordering the Yanshan Mountain in north. Only 30 minutes train ride from the capital city, Beijing, it was host to a number of events at the Olympic Games in 2008. A modern city nicknamed ‘The Shanghai of the North’, Tianjin is also blessed with an abundant variety of spectacular natural excursions.

Tianjin has a rich history that you’ll see in the old British and Italian concession areas, the port and the many examples of European architecture. As China’s third largest city with a population of over 10 million people, Tianjin is developing and modernizing rapidly. Fortunately, the city has retained an authentic Chinese way of life and you’ll find the people to be extremely friendly and the city to be very safe and inexpensive.

The best known scenic spots and historical sites include the Panshan Scenery Area, the Park on the Water, the Garden of Tranquility, the Palace of Heavenly Empress and even a section of the Great Wall of China at the Huangya Pass.

Main Responsibilities
• Manage the Production teams in each of the schools in the region of Tianjin. This includes being the first point of contact for the Director of Studies, and also the Center Managers on production-related topics
• Conduct academic training for DOSes and teachers on regular basis
• Conduct academic audits in each school two times per year, including above-mentioned tasks (incl. scheduling, teacher utility, group size, head count, customer satisfaction, produced ACH, observe teachers lessons)
• Follow-up on monthly dashboard reporting from DOS and CM and flag any major deviations from the targets, and
• Follow retention figures, and flag any negative changes from budget as well as finding reasons behind them and possible mitigation actions
• On a monthly basis report teacher demand for each of region’s schools to the recruitment team for demand planning purposes, and flag for immediate teacher needs due to unplanned leaves
• Manage the school budget with a close eye on cost control
• Ensure scheduling efficiency to enable high teacher utilization and class room utilization
• Monitor, report and follow-up on average group sizes for the different segments
• Drive and ensure proper implementation of production-related projects in schools

Compensation

• Salary: 16,000 (net) per month
• Accommodation: 3,000rmb (net) allowance per month
• Travel: 9,000rmb (net) per year
• Bonus: contract completion bonus – one month salary (net)
• 15 days paid annual leave plus 12 days paid public holidays
• Free Health Insurance (Erika International)
• Visa and work permits paid for and arranged

Requirements
• College/University graduate
• A recognized international TEFL qualification
• A minimum of 3 years EFL management experience
• Computer literate (Proficient in MS Office Package)
• Evidence of committal to professional development
• Previous DoS experience desirable

• China experience is preferred
