Special Education Program Leader
at The Essential Learning Group (Anywhere)
Responsibilities:
A Program Leader carries the responsibility of educating children from 2 to 17 year old that are diagnosed with or have difficulty with a number of physical, mental and emotional disabilities. They work with an Individualized Educational Plan that outlines the necessary support, accommodations and goals for each individual child. These goals encompass both academic and behavioral concerns. The Program Leader also directs meetings with parents and staff regarding the plan and makes necessary adjustments throughout the daily routine and lessons using specialized techniques to help them reach their goals by providing high-quality, evidence-based interventions to the clients of ILC program. The Program Leader will support his team by arranging weekly meetings and supervising the support given by their team to fit all children’s individual needs.
Requirements
•Program Leader must have relevant degrees and certificates to hold the current position and be licensed to perform their job in at least one country. (Masters in special education, educational psychologist, social worker – one of the above. A person with Bachelor’s degree combined with 5-10 years of professional working experience can be excepted to the role after spending a period of 2 years working in the company.
•A good understanding of cultural differences that may affect working relationships with superiors, colleagues and/or clients. Working in an environment with different language speakers and multiple cultures should be a source of humor and joy; a positive and optimistic approach in overcoming personal and professional challenges when dealing with how this affects every day work is expected.
•A personal and professional attitude that focuses on meeting the needs of clients and understanding that though one’s own professional training and/or experiences are limited, outside referral may not always be an option.
•A personal and professional attitude that is based on values such as: supporting others, recognizing own limitations and actively looking for support and feedback, asking questions when things/responsibilities/ activities/policies/protocols are unclear; constantly willing to improve quantity and quality of services by oneself and ELG in general.
•English language proficiency in verbal and written communication; additional languages are appreciated
