Learning Support Specialist (Special Educator)
at Olivia's Place in Beijing
Responsibilities
• Provide learning support services in both school and clinical settings on a 1:1 basis to children with various learning challenges including, but not limited to: dyslexia and other reading difficulties, ADHD, and math and/or writing difficulties.
• Select and modify instructional resources to meet the needs of students with varying backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs.
• Collaborate effectively with parents, teachers, therapists, and administrators.
• Maintain high level of professionalism including confidentiality.
• Maintain a flexible schedule with students during school day.
• Willingness to provide instruction in a variety of settings.
• Takes initiative and set high goals
Minimum Education & Work Experience
• Valid teaching certificate in special education
• 2+ years as a practicing Special Education Teacher
• Fluent written and spoken English.
Preferred Education & Work Experience
• Training and experience with an Orton-Gillingham based reading program
• Training and experience with Handwriting Without Tears
• Verbal fluency in a language in addition to English, especially Mandarin Chinese
• Experience working in multidisciplinary settings
