Metabolic Engineering Intern - Internship

Internship Title: Metabolic Engineering Intern

Start Date: from July 2011 onwards
Length: 1-4 months
Stipend: transport allowance
Location: Qingdao, China
Internship Description:
This great lab research internship provides a pragmatic platform for the sciences students or young professionals to apply their academic knowledge into the real world. The interns will get the chance to work with scientists to deal with the metabolic engineering with the Clostriduium cellulolyticum. There are two main research fields involved, which are:
1. to help the strains use the lignocellulose biomass to raise the ethanol
production rate through the introduction of the external highly-efficient
alcohol dehydrogenase gene;
2. to make the strains grow upon the basis of xylose by introducing 5-
carbon sugars metabolic pathways;
Essential Requirements:
1. biological, medical sciences or related majors
2. fluent and excellent English language skills
3. self-motivated and willing to learn
