Student Services Manager in Dalian, China

Full-time at INTO University Partnerships in Dalian

INTO University Partnerships is one of the world’s leading private providers of international education.

Dongbei University of Finance and Economics (DUFE) is a well known and reputable specialist university located in Dalian, a seaside city in north east China.

In China, INTO works in close partnership with DUFE to provide a full range of student support services to international students recruited by INTO China for the University’s undergraduate and post graduate degree programs that are taught in English.

We are seeking a suitably qualified individual to manage our Student Services Program on campus at DUFE. This position requires strong interpersonal and communication skills, and a capacity to appreciate the challenges faced by international students in China. Appropriate tertiary qualifications, fluency in English and Mandarin Chinese, and at least two year’s previous work experience are mandatory requirements.
Key Accountabilities
• Ensure the provision of a first point of contact for students with issues of a non-academic nature;
• Manage and develop a small team of staff (including temporary staff as required) whose purpose is to provide a high quality student support service;
• Ensure the delivery of core student services and emergency services during office hours;
• Arrange induction and orientation sessions for new students;
• Develop a social activities programme for students and arrange staff attendance at social events;
• Advise students where to get further help or advice to resolve issues;
• Conduct surveys and/or focus groups to assess student satisfaction;
• Work with the INTO China Admissions staff to provide admissions support and pre-arrival information for applicants as required;
• Liaise with the INTO China Marketing Team to produce interesting and compelling content for social media, newsletters and student testimonials;
• Develop strong and productive working relationships with key DUFE staff;
• Manage the arrival and registration of new students;
• Assist students with the preparation of documentation and processing of applications for their Residence Permits, bank accounts etc.
• Organise the out-of-hours emergency contact service;
• Assist with on-shore recruitment activities to attract new students to DUFE.
• Participation in INTO – DUFE committee and partnership management meetings
• Other duties as required. INTO reserves the right to introduce changes in line with technological developments that may impact upon your job duties or methods of working.
Leadership
• Leader and ‘face’ of INTO Students Services at DUFE on a day to day basis
• Co-ordination of staff and interns tasks and work plans
People management
• Management and development of support staff
• Monitoring of staff welfare
• Delegation and co-ordination of tasks to staff
• Consideration of requests for leave
• Identification of staff training needs.
Local Marketing
• Engagement with ‘walk-in’ students
• Promotion of INTO China at DUFE
Communication
• Staff meetings
• Student assemblies
• Supervision of any written communication with students
University Partnership liaison
• Regular liaison with DUFE International Office and Faculty staff as required
• Ensure all returns, reports or other requirements are satisfied
Student support
• Orientation and student Induction schedules
• Logistics of Student residence permits
• General student welfare support and assistance.
• (Major issues of student welfare should be referred to senior managers in accordance with the Critical Incident Policy)
• Student activities Program
• Arranging / scheduling ‘Master Classes”
Financial
• Liaise with Head of Student Services, Ass. Director – Partnerships & Operations, Finance Director and CCO on the development of Student Services operations budget
• Administer approved budget

Salary package circa GBP 18,000 p.a.
INTO China will also provide financial support with re-location should the successful candidate currently live outside China.
