Position Description
3 full-time positions as ThinkIVY Program Directors are available with a flexible start date of June 15, 2015. The position will be stationed in Shanghai, China, Educatrium’s Asia HQ. However, Program Directors will be needed to travel extensively to meet with and guide students located in 7 other cities: Beijing, Chengdu, Chongqing, Guangzhou, Kunming, Nanjing, and Hainan.
Program Directors will help run and manage the ThinkIVY Program in all aspects, from directly interacting with and advising students to taking on more involved roles by mentoring students with personal ThinkBIG projects allowing students to take initiative and conduct learning and/or make an impact outside of the classroom. ThinkIVY Directors are responsible for offering support to students physically and mentally, to always aim high and to never underestimate their potential, while also allowing them to grow and develop personally and independently. Lastly, Program Directors may be asked to aid in the development of SOPs, teaching materials, best practices, and lesson plans.
Core Responsibilities
• Grow program capacity and presence in partner locations
• Create, update, and maintain student progress reports
• Engage development team to adapt and continuously develop content and SOPs
• Meet with parents to address questions and concerns
• Own, manage and maintain one or more personal project
• Deliver regular 1-on-1 sessions to ensure high quality & simulating student experiences
• Develop and refine content that adapts to student weaknesses
• Identify and exchange key insights, challenges and solutions in working with Chinese students
• Follow up with students and address any issues
Social Impact
As a startup, Educatrium asks every mentor and employee to take on roles of immediate value and impact to the company. During the summer, ThinkIVY Program Directors may be responsible for helping to beta test and develop our new Adaptive Learning Platform with 200 students from all over China, all of whom will be part of our ThinkBIG, StartSMALL residential camp where we will deploy our platform. Once the platform is perfected we will launch our curriculum to millions of students via the Internet for free as one small step towards our overall mission of eliminating traditional barriers to high quality education. During the rest of the yearlong position Directors may be asked to perform additional duties that align with Educatrium’s goal for greater global social impact.
Support & Supervision
ThinkIVY Program Directors will undergo an initial 3-week on-site training in addition to regular periodic progress and performance feedback sessions. All Program Directors will directly report to the leadership team and will also be assigned a mentor for the duration of the one-year position. Educatrium aims to develop not only their students but also all mentors and company professionals in reaching personal goals and in becoming more effective in reaching our company mission.
Requirements
Applicants must have obtained a BA/BSE by the start of the position in July 2015. All majors are encouraged to apply, with preference given to candidates with demonstrated passion and experience in working with high school students and/or international students. Candidates must also have a valid passport and be eligible for a work visa in China with sponsorship.
