Education Consultant
at Ivyuan Education Development in Shanghai
Ivyuan (www.ivyuan.com/en) is an educational development company based in Shanghai, China. Our services range from educational consulting to curriculum development, online instructional videos, E- Textbooks, and data assessment. We deliver educational consulting services and an array of secondary- education programs to Chinese students preparing to study abroad. Our offices are located in Beijing, Hangzhou, Shanghai, and Shenzhen, with connections to schools and academies in Chengdu, Guangzhou, and Suzhou. Our team comes together from a broad range of backgrounds and experiences.
We recruit recent college graduates from American universities and/or those who are interested in seeking a career in international education. In this role, you will be contributing to the design and implementation of various educational programs, writing/application/cultural workshops and curricula for our students, including (but not limited to) public talks, summer programs, academic workshops after the application process, and more formal teaching in the social sciences and English at local high schools that we partner with. Past consultants have taught history, psychology, economics, critical reading, academic writing, and contemporary culture, and we welcome any new subjects that you have a passion for. In addition, you will also serve the role as a college counselor to mentor students through the application process.
Depending on your background experience and technical skills, you may also be more involved in the following projects: education research, video script writing, film production and editing, curriculum development, textbook curriculum design, website production, computer programming and data analysis. We look for passionate, motivated and enthusiastic individuals to guide local students to develop academic skills and the language competence necessary to achieve success in U.S. colleges. We provide an entrepreneurial platform to push educational projects in China, and the opportunity to be part of a start-up that has doubled staff in the past two years. We encourage our staff to seek out and participate in career development opportunities, and initiate innovative projects. Outstanding performers who are keen to gain leadership experience may also have the chance to assume greater management responsibility and involvement in internal projects.
We provide a competitive compensation package including salary, housing, performance-based bonus, annual merit-based base salary increases, and a stipend towards health insurance. Living and travel allowances may also apply.
• Bachelor’s degree from a U.S. college or university.
• Passion for education, interest in academic topics, and working with students and families.
• Individuals should possess strong writing, editing, and interpersonal skills.
• Strongly preferred, though not required:
(a) Experience teaching/working with students
(b) Proficiency in Mandarin.
(c) Prior experience in curriculum design, visual arts, data assessment, electronic textbooks, video filming/editing/production, animation, and computer programming.
(d) Experience traveling to and living abroad in foreign countries.
