BASIS Elementary Teachers are knowledgeable, passionate and believe in transforming education. Our K-4 classrooms are co-taught with not one, but two elementary school teachers co-creating with students at all times. Primary Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Learning Expert Teachers, one type of BASIS Elementary Teacher, are responsible for one cohort of students and lead them through classroom transitions during the day. They collaborate work with the Subject Expert Teacher (SET) for each class period. BASIS Learning Expert Teachers utilize their expertise in elementary education teaching methods to provide individualized or small group instruction to meet the differentiated needs of students and establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom. These two types of elementary teachers collaborate to find the best ways to deliver a top-tier education, ensure student engagement, and create an environment where students will understand and retain what they learn.
Additional duties of this job include, but are not limited to:
•Evaluating students' academic and social growth, keeping appropriate records, and preparing progress reports
•Communicating with parents through e-mail, conferences and other means to discuss students' progress and interpretation of the BASIS school culture
•Identifying student needs and cooperating with subject experts or other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude and learning problems
•Supervising students during classroom transitions throughout the day
Job Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications: A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education and able to obtain a valid fingerprint clearance are required to teach at BASIS. In addition to a Bachelor's degree, documentation of passage of a state authorized elementary subject knowledge education test fulfills the highly qualified requirement which vary by state. Demonstrated passion for student achievement and directed effort to raise individual student outcomes.
Preferred Qualifications: A minimum of 3 years of experience as an elementary educator is preferred. A successful applicant will demonstrate strong communication skills and be open to new ideas in teaching methods.
