at UCSE - Edvantage Program in Fujian Province: Xiamen and Quanzhou
Program Adviser Position Announcement
Xiamen, Fujian, PRC
Looking for energetic, creative, and open-minded individual to be a Program Adviser for the Edvantage program in Fujian province. This job will include both teaching and business development responsibilities. Successful candidates will be considered for quick promotion to China Regional Manager along with our other Edvantage program advisers in various cities in China.
The Edvantage is developed for an international student audience interested in admission to, and matriculation from, U.S. colleges and universities. The program sessions include learning experiences from the following key pillars:
• Academic Research and Inquiry
• Academic Discourse and Communication
• Exploring U.S. College and University Culture
• Refining Individual Learning Strategies
The program delivers a deliberately crafted curriculum for the purpose of encouraging student-centered exploration of interpersonal and academic skills as well as self-reflection on individual potential to engage deeply with academic content and social interaction. Each program session scaffolds critical thinking, reflection, and collaboration skills while encouraging students to develop English proficiency and independence as critical thinkers and creative problem-solvers.
Program Adviser Responsibilities:
• Teach 2 - 5 classes a week (1 hr long) in various cities in Fuzhou including Xiamen and Quanzhou. Travel between cities will be reimbursed.
• Implement 21st Century teaching, learning and assessment strategies as provided and described in the curriculum. The curriculum and all of its’ materials are provided for you and you will have a instructor training session.
• Monitor, assist and provide written and oral formative assessment to students as they work independently, in pairs and in group settings
• Support students during the creation of their Self-Introduction videos by allocating sufficient time for video capture, reflection writing, rehearsing, video-recording, and video-editing throughout the program curriculum
• Demonstrate caring for all students and work diligently to support their success in the program and in the development of their ePortfolio and Personal Online Profile.
• Promote the Edvantage program through various business and promotional events. Travel required.
Job Requirements:
• BA or BS degree and a minimum of two years of teaching experience is required
• An advanced degree and/or record of multiple continuous years of successful high school classroom teaching experience is preferred
• Ability to speak and write in standard English at the post-baccalaureate level
• Ability to interact, engage, and communicate effectively with high school students;
• Fluency with basic technology skills (Microsoft Office, telecommunications, multimedia creation) and a willingness to learn and use video-editing tools
• Enthusiasm for student-centered instruction and creation of a 21st century learning environment where learning and teaching is focused on student growth and development
Program Details:
The program will be held in Fujian Province, China, from Oct, 2017 to June, 2018.
There is instructor training before class begins.
Additional cities in China may be added to the program in the coming months.
Compensation:
We offer a competitive salary (350-500 RMB/hour)in addition to transportation expenses for part-time applicants. For full-time positions, Program Advisers have the opportunity to earn up to 20,000RMB based on previous experience. Assistance for obtaining a China Visa will be offered, but the cost will be the responsibility of the instructor.
