The organization is also on the forefront of Microsoft Software + Service strategy, and the Outlook Live service now has over 9 million+ email customers worldwide. As we finish shipping Exchange 2010, we're about to begin the extensive planning for the next version of the Exchange product and service.
About Exchange China team
The Microsoft Business Division in China is a dedicated Exchange product and service development group (~60) located in Beijing, China. The China Exchange team is an integral part of Exchange core product development team in Redmond, Washington. We work very closely with our partner teams in every stage of the product development cycle, from planning to release.
Job description
We're looking for an experienced Program Manager to join our exciting team. To be successful in this role, you should have veteran-level experience taking a product through the release cycle process from initial planning to ship and beyond. You should demonstrate core Program Management competencies, including communication, project management, technical design, and presentation skills. You must have a proven track record of creating customer-focused products using excellent design and spec writing skills. You should be comfortable working with a diverse group of passionate engineers spanning China and the headquarters in the U.S.
Responsibilities
Evaluate customer requirements and plan releases
Put together necessary documents, prototypes, and functional specifications in collaboration with other functional teams
Define innovative user interfaces and interaction styles which result in improved user productivity, discoverability and simplicity
Work across PM/Dev/Test/UX disciplines within Exchange as well as within partner teams in Redmond and Beijing
Learn about competing products and be aware of industry trends
Travel to Redmond 1-2 times/year
Qualifications include
5-7 years working experience in software development/testing and at least 2 years in project management are required. Prior PM experience at Microsoft strongly preferred.
Have gone through at least one complete product release cycle for large scale enterprise applications or complex web applications
Fluent in English, both oral and written
Strong communication skills and interpersonal awareness to work collaboratively with a diverse set of people across groups and organizational levels
Excellent planning and organizational skills required
Passion for customer focused innovation
Be results driven. Strong problem solving skills and cross-group collaboration skills are desired
In depth hands-on, working knowledge of Microsoft Server products, .NET, C++/C#, and AJAX is a plus
BA/BS degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline
