Music Teacher
at Musicool in Chongqing
Job brief
We are looking for enthusiastic music instructors to lead our group classes and private lessons. Our classes allow students to have a broad and general understanding of music and music structure as well as introducing English vocabulary and phrases. Our one-on-one lessons helps our students master the basic tenants of musicianship using any instrument of their choice. New instructors are expected to give innovative input and bring new instructional methods aimed at motivating children to continue their music education.
Responsibilities
Follow a complete teaching plan with your personal innovative and creative input
Teach basic music theory, notation in a fun and interactive way
Organize learning material and resources
Use a variety of activities and instructional methods (songs, stories, media, structured games, art, activities etc) to motivate and stimulate children’s abilities
Work closely with a Chinese translator in class and ensure you both understand the teaching material
Assess students performance and progress to ensure they are mastering the skills on regular basis
Monitor children’s interactions and nurture cooperation and sharing
Cooperate with administration staff
Follow and comply with teaching standards and safety regulations
Requirements
Proven working experience as a music instructor – group class experience preferred but not required
Teach 5 to 6 days per week, multiple classes per day of all age groups
Ability to play and teach at least one musical instrument
Ability to improvise musically is preferred but not required
Teaching and organization skills
Strong communication & language skills – English required, English & Mandarin is preferred but not required
Available to live in Chongqing, China for at least 6 months
Have a valid passport with at least a year before expiration
Completed criminal record check – must also be cleared for working with children depending on which country you are from.
University Bachelor's Degree or higher required, though not necessarily in education or music.
