Marketing and Cultural Exchange Officer
at Gotoco International in Beijing
Gotoco requires a Marketing and Cultural Exchange Officer to work closely with our Directors to develop our offline marketing and campus engagement activities across the UK and North America. The role requires a full-time commitment and is based in our Beijing office, with significant international travel through the year.
Gotoco is an international social enterprise start-up focused on increasing global cultural exchange by providing opportunities in China to European and North American university students. Set up and run by University of Oxford alumni, Gotoco has helped over 1,000 university students experience China first-hand from 2015-18, with them all earning a teaching certificate through cultural exchange programmes. Gotoco works with over 70 schools in 50 locations across China, as well as partners across the UK and North America, including the University of Oxford, British Council Generation UK, US-China Strong Foundation, SupChina and Project Pengyou.

Role
Joining a young, dynamic team, you will be expected to be creative and innovative in developing our marketing and cultural exchange programmes. We are a small team and you will play a key role in growing the business, having a real opportunity to leave your mark on a growing company. The role includes
- Planning and executing our annual offline marketing events, focussing on university fairs
- Overseeing and coordinating university Campus Ambassadors and student societies, including organising events and developing new partnerships
- Managing stakeholder relationships, including university partnerships and applications for government tenders
- Designing and organising marketing materials, including for events and campaigns
- Designing cultural exchange and regional information packs
- Strategy research for developing our offline marketing
- Managing communication with applicants to ensure they have the required information
- Liaising between China client management team and our non-China marketing efforts
- Assisting in allocation of applicants and preparation for their time in China
Requirements
Applicants should
- Hold a bachelor’s degree and have relevant experience in marketing or similar roles
- Be a native English speaker; competence in Mandarin is preferred, but not required
- Have experience of working, studying or travelling abroad, especially in China
- Have some experience in organising and coordinating Directors’ schedules
- Be familiar with relevant computer programmes (Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite, Wordpress, Mailchimp), and be proficient in working online, including use of global social media
- Be organised, proactive, quick to learn and eager to take responsibility and ownership of the role
