-Job Title: MYP/DP Coordinator
-Number needed: 1
-Work location: Beijing
-Student’s ages: Age 12 to 18
-Work content:
1. Serve as the liaison with the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) office.
2. Carry out the necessary tasks outlined in the IBO’s list of coordinator’s responsibilities, including registration of students, payment of invoices, monitoring of deadlines and dispatch of necessary documentation and organization of the examination sessions.
3. Ensure that teachers are well informed of the IB philosophy, administrative procedures, curriculum requirements, assessment deadlines and so forth.
4. Oversee the planning of an internal assessment calendar.
5. Assist the Principal with supervision of Diploma teachers.
6. Ensure that parents, students and faculty are well informed of the demands of the program.
7. Work closely with students, advising and guiding, to ensure appropriate choice of courses and encourage the habits of independent, life-long learning.
8. Ensure that all administrative routines and requirements are strictly observed, including arrangements for final examinations.
9. Take part in marketing activities of the school to promote the IB program.
10. Prepare and circulate an annual review of IB examination results.
11. Oversee the distribution of IB examination results.
12. Provide outreach to the wider IB community through discussion forums, e-mail and school visits.
13. Lead the IB Accreditation/ Authorization Review.
14. Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
Career Path:
This position can basically go in the direction of the Principal, and might be in charge of another campus in Singapore in the future (with more than 1000 students).
Requirements
-Nationality: Native English speaker
-Degree:
1. Bachelor’s degree in relevant/specialist subject area.
2. Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) or equivalent.
3. Qualified Teacher Status in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, UK, and USA.
4. Preferred: Master degree; an internationally recognized leadership qualification
Age Required: 38-50
Teaching Experience:
1. Experience: Minimum 2 years’ experience in teaching inquiry-based learning (or MYP curriculum) within secondary school
2. Skills:
-Demonstrated success in working with secondary school students and in a school leadership role
- A strong understanding of progressive pedagogy
- Effective planning and time management
- Creative and effective use of resources, including education technology
- Ability to maintain student focus and active engagement on learning
- Positive management of behavior
-Strong, clear communication and listening skills
- Adaptable to varying contexts and an enthusiasm for working with Chinese colleagues and parents
-Experience in working with EAL/ELL students
-Enthusiasm for curriculum study and development
-Demonstrated experience in using a variety of assessment and feedback techniques and in raising achievement and setting aspirational targets
3. Preferred:
-IB Trainer
- Some proficiency in oral Chinese Mandarin would be an advantage but is not a requirement
-An internationally recognized leadership qualification
