Employment: Type Full-time (Beijing) Part-time (working remotely)
Job Description
As a member of the translation team, you will work on the official English translations of central government documents. This includes the premier’s annual government work report, national policy documents, and the works of Chinese leaders. Your main role will be to revise and polish translations to ensure accuracy and readability. You will contribute to the team through your strong understanding of the English language.
You Will Be
A native English speaker with excellent writing skills
Under 60 (for the full-time position)
You Will Have
A bachelor’s degree, preferably in China studies, international relations, or journalism
Good proficiency in Chinese (especially reading)
Previous experience in translation or editing (at least two years of work experience for the full-time position)
A good knowledge of contemporary China
Salary and Benefits
Salary: 15,000-20,000 RMB per month
Accommodation: You will have the option of a heavily-subsidized and fully furnished apartment in the heart of Beijing (Xidan). Our apartments are a fifteen-minute walk from work, and are ideally located for shops, restaurants, cinemas, and public transport.
Housing Allowance: If you opt to find your own housing you will receive 36,000 RMB per year as a housing allowance on top of your salary.
Insurance: The Bureau offers social insurance (basic health care and state pension) to all full-time employees.
Paid Leave: Full-time foreign employees under a one-year contract are entitled to 15 days of paid leave after their first six months.
